
Fall into the new month with these fun activities, from a bluesy bash to Halloween happenings.

It wouldn’t be October in Louisville without the St. James Court Art Show. Founded in 1957, this art show began as a creative way to raise funds to fix the historic St. James fountain, and it’s grown to be one of the top 10 art shows in the nation. Get your steps and art viewing in on the first weekend of October from 10am to 6pm on Friday and Saturday. Sunday the fair is open from 10-5, rain or shine.
It’s baaaack! The annual Jack O’Lantern Spectacular begins October 2 at Iroquois Park. Walk along a path through the woods to see over 5,000 carved pumpkins light up the night. Buy tickets online for this once-in-a-season event that will give you and yours “pumpkin to talk about” for years to come.

If you need a little soul with your weekend, the Garvin Gate Blues Festival is happening October 10-11 at Old Louisville’s Garvin Gate. This free musical event brings in local and national artists to celebrate the evolution of the blues genre, which can be traced back as far as the 1860s. Food and drink vendors will be onsite to make this festival all the more memorable.
Bring out the costumes, round up the grandkids, and head to the Louisville Zoo for its tradition of more than 40 years, Boo at the Zoo. This event runs the entire month of October and offers trick-or-treating for kids under 11.

Another stop on your family trick-or-treat trail can be Churchill Downs on October 26. Trick or Treat at the Track is a fun day of racing and kid-friendly activities. Children under 12 will love the surprises like face painting and bounce houses.
So grab your sweater and your sweet tooth — October in Louisville is packed with treats you won’t want to miss.
