It’s the new year, so it’s definitely time to bring in some new energy with all of these indoor activities happening in January. Flea markets, boats, and dinosaurs await your whole family… and did I mention that it’s all going on indoors?
Start your New Year off right with some new goodies for your home at the Kentucky Flea Market New Year’s Spectacular, a Louisville tradition for over 50 years! This is the largest flea market in the region and it’s happening Jan. 1-4 at the Kentucky Expo Center. You’ll find incredible deals on antiques, collectibles, clothing and accessories, and let’s not forget the arts and crafts.

The Expo Center is the place to be this month: Take in one more family day before the grandkids go back to school on Jan. 2-4 with the life-sized animatronic dinosaurs at the Dinosaur Adventure. Then, running Jan. 9-11, check out the Louisville Home and Garden Show to get inspired for a spring spruce-up around your home. And finally, stop by the Louisville Boat, RV, and Sports Show running Jan. 5-Feb. 1, and enjoy favorites such as the catch-and-release trout pond, a touch tank with stingrays, and free seminars for those who love the great outdoors.

It’s also a great time to check out a show or concert. Take in the Queen of Country’s iconic music with the Louisville Orchestra’s Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs In Symphony on Jan. 31. Or, head over to Indiana for the return of the beloved Bunco ladies at Derby Dinner Playhouse’s run of The Bunco Squad Rolls Again, Jan. 7-Feb. 15. Written by DDP’s own Jim Hesselman, this comedy is a slice of life with characters we all can recognize from our own neighborhoods.
End your month on a delicious note with the Louisville Chocolate, Wine, and Whiskey Festival happening Jan. 31 at Mellwood Arts Center. Tickets are limited, and there are VIP passes available for those who want early entry to sample all the things. On that same day, you and your family can choose a different type of adventure for a good cause — the Kosair Shrine Circus, featuring the crowd-favorite human cannonball, animal performers, and human performers swinging from the highest of trapezes, all raising funds for Kosair Charities.
Stay cozy out there, and enjoy some winter fun!
