Celebrate the Semiquincentennial
This year marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. And no matter how old you are, there are always things to learn about our nation’s history. For example, you might think the Battle of Yorktown was the final fight of the American Revolution. But in fact, the Battle of Blue Licks in Carlisle, Kentucky, in 1782 was one of the last. On Saturday, Aug 15, 2026, there will be a Battle of Blue Licks memorial ceremony to commemorate the event. To learn more about other semiquincentennial events, check out the Kentucky Historical Society.
