A perfect day trip that isn’t too far, and offers a small-town feel while still being within the Louisville Metro area.

The original 3rd Turn Brewing is located in a newly restored 1878 church, where you can share drinks and conversation in a laid back atmosphere. Step into Commonwealth Candle Shop + Candle Bar for a great little gift shop for candles and warmers. If you’d like to pour your own unique candle, you can grab a seat at the candle bar. Allow yourself about an hour for your candle to complete its curing — this would be a great time to see a few more shops or grab lunch before coming back to pick up your candle. commonwealthcandle.com

Wigglewow offers a variety of gourmet dog treats, including un-iced blue bags, colorful iced cookies in a variety of colors and designs, and customized treats for special occasions. The Jeffersontown Veterans Memorial Park was the first park in Kentucky to be dedicated solely to veterans. It is located on 25 beautiful acres and offers open green spaces ideal for recreational activities, including a pavilion and playground. Veterans Memorial Plaza and the Freedom Wall monument were unveiled on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2018.

The annual Gaslight Festival held in September (Sept 10-20, 2026) features a 5K run/walk, a Friday night balloon glow, and arts and crafts booths. jtowngaslight.com
