Welcome to summer fun in Louisville! Take your pick of the many different types of events and festivals this June.
Family-friendly events
Got a superhero-loving grandkid? The Louisville Zoo is hosting Super Summer Saturday on June 6. From 10am-2pm, meet your favorite caped crusaders and learn about the superpowers of your favorite animal ambassadors. It’s free with your Zoo admission.
Don’t leave the Zoo just yet — if you haven’t been to Wild Lights, now’s the time to see a new collection of glowing wildlife displays made with handcrafted Chinese lanterns. Journey through four immersive themed realms — from magical forests and oceans to the land of dinosaurs. This festival runs all month on Thursdays through Sundays, and tickets are available at the Louisville Zoo website.

Neighborhood outings
Butchertown Art Fair is held the first weekend of June with local art, food vendors, and music. One of the oldest neighborhoods in Louisville, Butchertown was established in the early 1800s and became the city’s meatpacking district. Today, this historic area is filled with restaurants and shops, and the art fair keeps its vibrant spirit alive. Check it out from 11am-6pm on June 6, and 11-5 on June 7.
Also blooming on June 6-7 is the 32nd Annual Old Louisville Hidden Treasures Garden Tour. Plant and garden lovers will find beautiful inspiration walking through the private green spaces of the nation’s largest Victorian residential neighborhood. Local artisans and vendors will also be part of the tour. Find tickets on their website.

Fun, al fresco
June is the month for outdoor festivities, from the Germantown Schnitzelburg Blues Festival on June 5-6, to the Pride Festival and the Whiskey Row Car Show on June 20, to the free Shakespeare Festival in Central Park throughout the month.
So grab your sunglasses, gather the grandkids, and make the most of a June filled with Louisville charm and summer celebration.
