What do you think your loved one would benefit from? A few exercises? A daily walk? A midmorning smoothie? A shower?
It can be impossible for you to provide these types of things every day, but these are things that hired caregivers can do. Asking your hired caregiver to engage in specific tasks, not just provide minimal care and assistance, should be part of the discussion of expectations for caregiver duties.
If you don’t have someone providing caregiving right now, perhaps you can divide tasks up among family members. Maybe your sibling can stop by daily with a smoothie or morning treat. Perhaps another relative or friend can take your loved one to the local gym for a class once or twice a week, or just lead them through a chair yoga class on YouTube.
Small, daily efforts reduce isolation and add movement into the everyday.
